Sandra Hartnett, ERYT 500, LifeForce Yoga® Practitioner and Reiki Master and Teacher
Sandy has been sharing her passion of teaching yoga since 2005 to many diverse groups, including senior citizens, veterans, corporate employees, teens in a shelter, and prison inmates. She completed 500 hours of advanced teacher training at Kripalu in 2010. She is certified in Mindful Yoga Therapy for Veterans with PTSD. Sandy will continue to be first a student, then a teacher.

The joyful spirit that she brings to her teaching encourages others to
transform their lives through the practice of yoga.

Sandy is a product of her profession having overcome her own adversities by studying yoga techniques and disciplines. She teaches with a flare and captivation that guides her students to a new level of self awareness. She believes wholeheartedly in the healing power of yoga which led to her to become a Level One Certified Practitioner in LifeForce Yoga (Yoga for Depression) with Amy Weintraub. Lifeforce Yoga is
intentionally designed to work with stress and difficult emotions.

Sandy had a unique opportunity to work with graduate students and faculty at the University of Connecticut and Harvard University in a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded study of yoga for stress management. Sandy taught and lectured about Kripalu yoga at UCONN’s main campus through June of 2016. Researchers hope that this work will help them develop a tool to measure
essential properties and benefits of yoga.

Sandy is also a Reiki Master and teacher who studied with Hillary Gauvreau, Myra Partka, and Lisa Powers.

What is Reiki?
We are all born with the power to heal ourselves. Our bodies are in a constant state of maintaining balance. Reiki is the energy that connects our higher self with everything around us. Reiki is a bridge between the ancient traditions of healing and the modern day scientific model.
Reiki is not only a tool for physical healing, but mental and spiritual growth as well.
Although Reiki has traditionally been used as a healing system, it is also extremely effective as a way to help individuals increase awareness, insight, wisdom and personal growth.
Contentment, relaxation, decreased feelings of stress, fear and anxiety as well as a reduction and in some cases elimination of physical illnesses and persistent conditions are common observations from clients after a Reiki session.
What To Expect At Your Visit
What does a session entail?
First, we will check in and discuss reasons and intentions for our time together.
Usually, a session is practiced on a Reiki/Massage table with the client fully dress. A sheet or blanket is offered for comfort and warmth. Reiki can also be performed in a chair. All that is required of the client is to breathe and receive. The recipient may fall asleep during the session as Reiki promotes deep relaxation. I offer 45 minute or one hour sessions. This time reflects time on the table. Example: a 45 minute session would last an hour with check in times.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands on or just above a client's body. The practitioner conducts universal energy from their arms, and out through their hands where it flows into the client's body.
The energy drawn in by the recipient is done so through the practitioner’s hands. The energy will go where it is needed and in the order that the recipient’s bodymind determines. We will often work on the alignment of the chakras.
Chakra means spinning wheel of energy or energy centre in Sanskrit. Each of these centres is associated with specific organs, endocrines, issues, emotions, colors and elements. Balancing these centres can have a physical, emotional and spiritual effect on an individual.
We end with another check in and talk about the experience and set goals for continued healing.
